For more than two decades, Touro Berlin has stood as a unique bridge between American academic excellence and the international spirit of Berlin. What began as a visionary project inspired by the city’s history and global character has grown into an internationally recognized institution that continues to shape students from around the world.

As Touro Berlin celebrates its 20-year journey, the anniversary is more than a milestone—it is a reflection of a community built on education, diversity, resilience, and international connection.

From Vision to International Institution

Touro Berlin was established in 2001 by Bernard Lander, inspired by Berlin’s international society and its significant Jewish history. The university launched its first academic program in 2003, focusing on International Business, which later evolved into the Bachelor of Science in Business Management.

Over the years, the institution steadily expanded its academic offerings. In 2010, the MBA program was introduced, followed by the Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2013. In 2007, the university also launched the Master of Arts in Holocaust Communication and Tolerance through the Lander Institute for Communication and Tolerance, established after Dr. Lander’s visit to the Holocaust Memorial in Berlin.

Today, Touro Berlin continues to grow with new academic directions, including the launch of the Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity beginning in Fall 2024 and the development of a Master’s in Psychology.

A Part of the Global Touro Family

Touro Berlin is part of the worldwide Touro family, a network founded in New York City in 1970. Originally established as a liberal arts college, Touro has evolved into a global academic institution with more than 35 universities, schools, campuses, and academic centers across the United States and internationally.

In 2022, under the leadership of Alan Kadish, Touro College New York achieved university status, becoming the first institution in over 50 years to be promoted to this highest academic standard in the State of New York. As part of this development, Touro College Berlin officially became Touro Berlin.

This transformation reinforced what students and alumni already knew: Touro Berlin represents a globally connected institution grounded in strong academic standards and international opportunity.

American Accreditation, Global Recognition

One of the defining strengths of Touro Berlin is its American accreditation.

Touro University is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), an accrediting agency recognized by the United States Secretary of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

This accreditation extends to Touro Berlin and ensures that students receive a fully recognized American degree while studying in Germany.

Most recently, Touro Berlin was visited and audited in March 2024 as part of the reaccreditation process and successfully passed the evaluation. The achievement reflected the collective effort of administration, faculty, students, and the leadership of

Touro University New York working together as one academic community.

A Campus Unlike Any Other in Berlin

Part of what makes Touro Berlin special is its campus environment.

Located at Am Rupenhorn 5 in Charlottenburg, the university is housed in a historic Bauhaus villa ensemble overlooking the Havel River. The campus combines history, architecture, and tranquility, offering students a safe and inspiring place to study and grow.

Unlike the anonymity often associated with large urban universities, Touro Berlin offers a more personal academic atmosphere. The campus creates what many students describe as an incubator-like environment—one that encourages both intellectual and personal development.

Despite its peaceful setting, the university remains closely connected to Berlin’s urban life, with public transportation providing easy access to central districts such as Kurfürstendamm and Alexanderplatz.

Programs Designed for an International Future

Over the past 20 years, Touro Berlin has developed programs that reflect the realities of a globalized world.

The university offers degrees in:

• Business Management (BSc)

• Cybersecurity (BSc)

• Psychology (BA and MA)

• Master of Business Administration (MBA)

The upcoming Master of Science in Data Analytics, expected for Fall 2026–2027, reflects the university’s continued focus on innovation and future-oriented education.

Programs are taught entirely in English and combine American academic standards with practical learning approaches designed to prepare students for international careers.
