Prof. Dr. Larisa Buhin

Professor of Psychology, Dean of Undergraduate Programs

Larisa Buhin obtained a doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology at Loyola University Chicago in 2004. She holds a master´s degree in Community Counseling also from Loyola University Chicago. Dr. Buhin completed a one-year internship and one-year post-doctoral specialization at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa Student Counseling and Development Center. Her clinical areas of interest are Multicultural Humanistic-Existentialist psychotherapy, career counseling, and community-based prevention.

Dr. Buhin´s international career in higher education spans more than 14 years and it includes teaching undergraduate courses at Hawai’i Pacific University, masters courses in Community Counseling at Loyola University Chicago, and doctoral courses in the Clinical Psychology program at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Prior to joining Touro College Berlin, Dr. Buhin was a full time faculty member at RIT Croatia´s Zagreb and Dubrovnik campuses.

Dr. Buhin´s experiences with administration of higher education include collaborating on establishing a student counseling center at the University of Zagreb and serving as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at RIT Croatia in Dubrovnik.

Dr. Buhin has been researching resilience, ethnic identity development, and just world beliefs in Croatian and U.S. Latino/a students with colleagues from University of California at Santa Barbara for the past two years. She was a Fulbright Fellow in the Psychology Department of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Zagreb from 2008 to 2009 and is a recipient of several grants and awards for her teaching, research, and mentoring efforts.
