studied political science, philosophy, and literature. He has held teaching assignments at the University of California, Berkeley; Harvard University; and in Haifa, Israel. Since 1993, he has taught political science at the Otto-Suhr-Institut of the Free University of Berlin. From 2001 through 2009 he served several times as the institute's executive director. He has been teaching at Touro College Berlin since 2008, and he is currently associate dean. His areas of specialization include the analysis of European right-wing extremism and its popular appeal and the special conditions of communication of National Socialism in Germany and in Europe. He served as a consultant for DeborahLipstadt in her trial against David Irving in London.
