Business Management and Administration


Management is a dynamic, intellectual discipline aimed at solving problems and improving business operations through the development of specialized skills and training in complex analysis. Management courses prepare students for leadership positions in diverse settings such as private enterprise, not-for-profit organizations, and governmental agencies.

 

The curriculum of the Bachelor Degree program in Management incorporates business studies, economics and liberal arts. English is the language of instruction and the major objective of the Business Department at Touro College Berlin is to produce business graduates with the following qualities and skills: 

  • critical thinking skills, including abilities to solve problems and make decisions
  • effective communication
  • well-developed interpersonal skills with a strong sense of teamwork, leadership and individual responsibility
  • a well-developed value system
  • an understanding of the American business enterprise in a competitive global economy
  • computer literacy in business applications

  • developed capacities for independent study
  • professional competency in business fields such as accounting, business management, finance, marketing, information systems, data communications, and office technology

Graduates of the program go on to graduate studies, or find employment in large and small corporations, family-owned businesses, financial, advertising, property and health related institutions. They work as general managers, managers of functional units, product development or service managers, public relations, administrators, supervisors, strategic planners, human resource specialists, and in a variety of entry-level jobs in functional departments. The concentration is suited for people whose long-range goals include career advancement to middle-and upper-level management positions.

 

The Management major aims to develop leadership skills and to expose students to the tools used in the business world. It consists of core courses in management, accounting, and economics, as well as functional courses in mathematics, computer science and marketing. Additionally, liberal arts courses in philosophy, history and literature provide students with a solid general education.

 

 

B.Sc. in Business Management & Administration (American Degree)

 

The American Bachelor of Science Degree can be completed in up to eight semesters. Students must complete a minimum of 120 American credit points (40 courses).

 

 

B.A. in Management (German Degree)

The German Study program requires six semesters to complete, and requires the student to pass 32 courses, which equals 180 ECTS points (European Credit Transfer System).

 

It is possible to enroll in both degree programs with the appropriate requirement equivalents. The academic year is divided into two semesters. The Fall semester begins on September 1st and the Spring semester on March 1st. Additionally an optional Summer School is offered in July and August.

 

 

Accreditation

The American B.Sc. Degree has been accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools in the United States of America, and the German B.A. Diploma has state approved recognition in Germany, and received accreditation by the
Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA).

 

 

Transfer Procedures

Students who have completed work in other post-secondary institutions may transfer into the Bachelor of Science program at different levels depending on the number of credits and institution. All transfer credits will be evaluated on a course-by-course basis to determine where they would fit into the curriculum sequence. Students must have earned a grade of “C” or better in the courses to be transferred.

 

 

Study Abroad

Between the third and fifth semesters, students have the opportunity to study at one of our partner colleges in New York or Moscow, or at any other properly accredited university of their choice for one semester.

 

 

Internship

For the German Degree, all students are required to complete at least one internship during the course of study. Students must present a written report showing detailed knowledge gained from practical exposure to a relevant business environment. Touro College Berlin supports students in finding internships in American, German and internationally-oriented companies.
